H. Donald (Don) Larson,  January 4, 1924 ~ August 31, 2015 91, formerly of Sinking Valley, passed away at the Hillview Nursing Home.

 He was born in Altoona, son of the late Harold and Esther (Armroth) Larson. He was twice married, first to Dorothy (Hufford) Larson, who proceeded him in death in 1980; he then married Maxine (Paisley) Nicodemus, to whom he spend 30 wonderful years of marriage, till her death on April 6, 2013.

Surviving are his daughters; Donna and husband Pherba Sherpa of Newark, DE, Ann E. (Nicodemus) Harshbarger of Pittsburgh; a brother Charles and wife Lynn Larson of Lake Wells, FL; Six grandchildren, Jennifer (Wayne) Schepens of Severna Park, MD, Scott (Lisa) Harshbarger of Pittsburgh, Adam Nicodemus of Philadelphia, Joshua (Julie) Nicodemus of Baltimore, MD, Erin (Wendell) Van Houten of Virginia Beach and Ryan (Stacy) Nicodemus of Midlothian, VA; Nine great-grandchildren; Elizabeth, Nicholas and Meredith Schepens, Jacob, Zoey and Piper Harshbarger, Garrett and Evan Van Houten and Ella Nicodemus. He is also survived by his niece Diane and nephew Steven. He had several close and wonderful friends whom he considered family.

He was preceded in death by his beloved son-in-laws, James P. Harshbarger, and Patrick R. Nicodemus, and a granddaughter, Erica Nicodemus.
Upon graduation from the Altoona High School Don won a scholarship to work at IBM.

Don decided to enter the service. He served proudly in the Navy during WWII on the US Navy Amphibious Attack Support Ship, the USS NESHOBA.
He then retired from Conrail as an electrician after 35 years of service.

Don was a member of Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church, Sinking Valley, the Unter Uns, Swiss Riffle Club and Bavarian Hall. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who had many dear friends by his side. He loved his fishing trips to Canada.
