Carl R. KellyMay 29, 1927 - April 14, 2012

Boonville—Carl R. Kelly, 84, of Kolasa Road passed away on April 14, 2012 at Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Boonville.

He was born in Remsen on May 29, 1927 a son of Carl F. and Lillian R. Rowlands Kelly. He grew up in Remsen attending Remsen High School and joined the U.S. Navy in 1944 at age 17 where he was in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater on the Amphibious Transporter, U.S.S. Neshoba. Carl was honorably discharged in 1946, and began work at Evans Equipment.

He was the Oneida County Deputy Sheriff from 1950-1954 and on June 23, 1951 in Fairfield, NY he married Reta Dager. The couple moved to Verona in 1954 where worked for the Thruway Authority as a Section Supervisor between the Syracuse and Little Falls exchange until retiring and moving to Boonville in 1995.

Carl was a member of the Talcottville United Methodist Church, Boonville American Legion, Boonville VFW, and Senior Citizens.

He enjoyed camping and traveling with his mini motor home hitting every state, including Alaska in 1985.

Surviving are his wife Reta, Boonville; one son and daughter-in-law Scott and Patty Kelly, Park City, Utah; one daughter and son-in-law Carla and Dan Mackey, Stockton, NJ.; one sister Beatrice Williams, Massena, NY; two brothers-in-law Richard Dager, Fairfield, NY; Kenneth and Joann Dager, Port Leyden; grandson Jeremy and his wife Patrice Kelly, Fulton, NY; several nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by one son Daniel Kelly of Sherrill, NY in February 2011 and one sister Leone Williams.

A Graveside service was held on Tuesday April 17, 2012 at Fairchild Cemetery. There were no calling hours. Contributions can be made to Sunset Nursing Home Activities Fund; Boonville VFW or American Legion, or to a charity of choice.
