Wayne L. Johnson Wayne L. Johnson, 83, passed away January 20, 2010, at the Washington State Soldiers Home in Orting, Washington. He was born in Renton, Washington, on May 26, 1926, to Oscar B. and Anne Johnson.

After graduating from Kent Meridian High School in June 1944, he served in the Pacific as a Navy radioman on the USS Neshoba. Following his military service, Wayne graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in forestry.

He worked for the Washington State Department of Natural Resources in Pierce, Grays Harbor, Lewis, and Thurston counties, retiring in 1981 after a 30-year career. Wayne's interests included photography and gardening; he especially enjoyed sharing his roses with family and friends.

Wayne is survived by brothers, Marvin (Phyllis) Johnson of Portland and Byron (Beverly) Johnson of Enumclaw. In addition he is survived by a daughter, Claudia (Mike) Schmitz of Olympia; and sons, Kirk (Becki) Johnson of Missoula, Montana, and Randi Johnson of Tumwater. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
