Earl Thomas Roberts

CONCORD - Earl Thomas Roberts, 82, of 3370 Roberta Church Road, died Monday, Jan. 26, 2009, at Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast.

Born Dec. 5, 1926, in Gaston County, Mr. Roberts was the son of the late George Dewey Roberts and Annie (Hines) Roberts. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served during World War II. He was formerly employed as a cloth inspector at Cannon Mills.

Mr. Roberts was a member of Roberta United Methodist Church for more than 60 years, where he was an active member of the Senior Citizens group.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen V. (Lambert) Roberts, and a sister, Helen R. Burris.

Surviving are his daughter, Kathy Lineberry (Roberts) and husband John of Concord; sister Peggy Thomas of Cullowhee; and granddaughter Amanda Bates and husband Jay of Salisbury.

Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28 at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord. The family meeting place will be at the home, 3370 Roberta Church Road, Concord.

Service: 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 29 at Roberta United Methodist Church with the Rev. Debra Short officiating. Burial will at be at church cemetery in Concord.
