That outfit, shorts, an d you can't see them Jap combat boots with those spikes on the soles were my only possessions after the big Typhoon in August right after the surrender.  We had secured and were doing nothing , our gear had been sent to Japan without us to be assigned to another Unit, and when that blow came, all our tent's and clothes, blankets cots etc ended up in the China sea.  When the Typhoon hit, we did have some radio receivers that could monitor the harbor nets still on line, and not being able to answer the distress calls from ships in the harbor was very frustrating - Calls like this "WVNH, we are being pulled astern, no power, what can you do to assist?", not a thing.
