You have done a great job on this page; Jake. Thank you for all that you have done on the web, getting guys together again. Please keep the e-mail addresses posted. I arrived at Sampson on September 1, 1944 and left on November 29, 1944. Was transferred to New London Sub Base and lost track of all the guys in my boot company. Would like to renew friendships. Anyone out there from this time period? Help me determine what unit I must have been in.

Murray G Henry Saturday, 6/26/99, 8:51 AM

My Dad, Theron "RED" Henry was at Sampson in the fall of "43". He was in Company 160 and lived in Barracks C8. Dad passed on in 1968 but I have everything he saved from his days at Sampson (manuals, menus, church service announcements, his orders, etc.) He also attended electrician's mate training at Sampson before being shihpped out to France on the Destroyer Carmick. He was involved in the invasion of Southern France, escort duty, and was actually in the Sea of Japan when the war ended. I am a member of the auxillary and have stopped at the museum several times over the years. Here's thanking all you guys who served this country and hoping your reunion this year is a great one. I want to commend all Sampson Navy Vets for the outstanding job you are doing at keeping our history alive! This WebPage, the museum, the YS42 and your entire organization are things that everyone should be proud of! I am the son of a Sampson Vet. His name was Donald Laraway, he was assigned as a company commander in "G" Section from 1943 thru 1945 I believe. Would welcome any and all information that the members remember. He passed away when I was a teenager and I missed learning first hand about a very important time in his life. I plan to join as an auxillary member and purchase a brick in his name! Keep up the fantastic job and thank you all for your courage and sacrifice to keep us free! God Bless you all!

The site is very interesting and informative. The work that is being done in every phase of the organization will live on into the 21st century for our children and there children.I belong to the Sampson WWII Vets and am proud of it. The other sites that are readily available through our site was an inovative idea and will do a lot to educate the future generations about the job of the NAVY

Hi Jake, I like it, beautiful, great job. My display shows some overlay of text on text, and photo on text. Thought it might be a problem with my NetZero service , but it happens with my AOL, too. I'm sure, though, that your tune up tweaking will resolve it. Tried to send this info yesterday, but somehow it would not go (at least I don't believe it went). Regards, Hod Heineke
